Touch Responsive Sound Installation

  • PACHA is an touch-responsive-sound installation of plants and soil that tells stories of ecological symbiosis, ancestral knowledge and reimagined futures. It is a decolonial response to the climate crisis designed to rekindle our bond with nature in an explorative and playful way fusing technology and the natural world.

PACHA has been co-made with people from the Global Majority through a series of explorative workshops. The workshops included urban herbal walks, creative writing, community remapping, discussions and future storytelling. The workshops were a place of exploration, solidarity, creative solutions and important questions. Some of the participants’ statements, poetry, stories, insights, and embodied knowledge have been shared within the installation. A larger body of recordings will be available in an artistic digital archive on pachapeople.com which will act as a legacy celebrating these vital contributions.

PACHA toured to the Museum of the Home and Bernie Grant Arts Centre, each time a new installlation with a community.
